Dr Finkelstein,
Perhaps some of the "Neofaschist Jews" should visit one of the Concentration Camps in Germany. The experience would be quite sobering. It's one thing to read about the concentration camps, but quite another to actually stand in the center of one. I have stood among German friends in the concentration camp at Dachau, Germany. I have seen the crematorium off in the distance, the gas chamber just outside the camp, and the horrific medical facility where medical experiments were carried out. I've also marched along side my friends and their family in remembrance of Kristallnacht. This is definitely a period in history that should never be repeated. Time has a way of desensitizing people, allowing them to forget. History will repeat itself if we don't learn from it. Genocide should never be tolerated, and yet we continue to stand by and watch from the sidelines. The Darfur region is a prime example. Will mankind every learn from their mistakes? or learn to respect life? and to tolerate one another?

As for your religious posting, wow, do you have any Christian friends left? It’s a pretty harsh posting, even though history supports your statements. Many world leaders have used religion as their basis for killing. They use a technique called FUD (Fear – Uncertainty – Doubt) to convince naïve people to commit unspeakable acts in the name of religion. Hitler was a master of this technique. He was a very charasmatic leader, and used propaganda to instill fear, uncertainty, and doubt in the minds of the average citizen.

Today, most people think they are smarter, and would never be susceptible to this technique. Unfortunately, they are very naïve. How else could a leader convince an entire nation to give up their rights guaranteed under the Constitution? By using FUD to instill hatred against an entire religion (today it’s Moslem). When I ask most people what they think of the Patriot Act, they say it’s necessary to protect our freedom. Interesting concept: Give up our freedom to protect our freedom

To Corpraider,

What is your problem?
Is it:

A: You are so self important that you think anyone talking in a foreign language must be talking about you? Relax, if they were, I'm sure they would be laughing!

B: You are a victim of FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt)? You actually believe that immigrants are the reason Social Security is failing? That they are taking jobs away from hard-working Americans? That welfare doesn't work because of African
Americans?

or

C: You are just plain stupid. Maybe you should consider a brain transplant.

Dr Finkelstein,
Your 'Taking Refuge...'is a very insightful, well written article. I am impressed. These two candidates are incapable of seeing past their own greed. Greed is the cause of the current healthcare problems, not the solution. For Mr. Edwards to insist that raising taxes is the only way to fix the healthcare system shows his lack of understanding of the problems, or at least his unwillingness to fix the problems.

2nd Amendment
It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to convince sheep to give up there rights. In the wake of the VA Tech tragedy, many people are calling for the removal of the 2nd Amendment. They claim this it is no longer needed in this country. I asked my son what he thought about this, and his response was "How would we protect ourselves from a corrupt government? Who would be able to stop them from taking over this country?" I wonder what these people will think when they find themselves in a 'Police State' with Mr Cheney as the self-proclaimed ruler of this nation.

Others are using this tragedy to try to change the 2nd Amendment to ban assault weapons. Never mind the fact that the killer didn't use assault weapons, or that a would-be-killer could just as easily build a bomb from instructions on the internet. They at least will sleep better at night knowing that assault weapons will be banned.

Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what your country can do for Mr. Bush!

I love it ! I just sat down and read a few of your posts on your site. I love the points you make and I love how you don't dance around the facts.

Very impressive !!

Dr Finkelstein,

Do you have any opinion on the following Republican candidates? Thompson, Romney, and Dr Paul? I'd like to read your opinion of these candidates.

Thanks

As I listen to the Presidential candidates, it is becoming increasingly evident that they don't even understand the issues they are trying to resolve. Take immigration for example.

Solution 1: Create a National ID Card, just for the immigrants. How is this going to fix the problem? legal immigrants are already documented (Green Card), and illegal immigrants will still not abide by the rules. This plan does not make sense.

Solution 2. Build a wall around our borders. Maybe, but illegal immigrants will still find a way into this country. This could lead to more 'indentured servants', as it will increase the cost of smuggling people across the border.

Why not enforce the laws that are already in place? If we make it impossible for illegal immigrants to get work in this country, then they will have no choice but to follow the established rules. Here's a few areas that should be addressed.
Punish businesses that continue to hire illegal immigrants.
Fix the Social Security Administration. The SSA is aware of the fact that SSNs are sold to illegal immigrants to assist them in obtaining work in this country. This is criminal, and should not be tolerated.

"Applause", finely something that makes more sense than anything that is being spouted as "policy" by the wannabes running for President Of the The United States of America.
The masses are asses, very few would even come close to realizing that this makes more sense than fighting over control of a region that most Americans would never understand anyway. The lack of any plauseable Energy Plan continues to make America and other countries as well, highly dependent on "their oil".Why is it that American Politicians find it more important to fight a "war" that isn't really a war, over taking care of American's at home? The majority of people in America stand or sit idlely by and watch as more and more of their Constitutional Rights are taken away by the rich and wealthy politicians that only care about money, they care nothing about the welfare of American's, it's not their future at stake(politicians), their future is wealthy, healthy and bright.
Wake up America! It's time for people in America to realize that we are no longer all powerful and the decision makers are doing what they want, not what we want, and worst of all they are getting their way at the expense of "stupidity"! "Ignorance " is not just something limited to politicians, it's contagiously spreading throughout America.

Deny everything, detract from the truth, and blame someone else.

That seems to be the tactics used by our current administration, and the majority of Americans buy it! The Libby trial is a prime example, another is the Immigration Reform bill.

I read your ten most recent entries and have yet to find one point to disagree with. Thanks for inviting me to read them. Have a lovely weekend.

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." Lucius Annaeus Seneca 4 B.C.-65 A.D.

"Naturally the common people don’t want war. But after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it’s always a
simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and for exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." Hermann Goering at the Nuremberg Trials.

How much more fraud, waste, and abuse are we going to allow? This one on the heals of a $1.2B no-bid contract with no deliverables and no accountability.

"A faulty database has prevented federal auditors from tracking more than $7.3 billion earmarked for the reconstruction of Iraq, according to USA Today. As a result, federal auditors still don't know how much waste and fraud has occurred."

Fraud is so easy these days, the highest of all crime increases, over murder and domestic violence. One only need look at what is going on in this country and it is easy to see the Americans have been blindly lead to the great demise we are going to experience in the coming months. The lines as of old are being drawn and most of America does not care until it is too late to correct such things like NAFTA(a beginning to the end of America as a soverign nation of freedoms) or just where is American TAX money being spent and on what? There is no accountability if hackers of the evil internet can steal personal information and illegals can rob ALL of AMERICA "as their right to do so", then we had all best leave this once great country and try again, the gloom and doom has already begun. Bank Of America gives illegals free credit with or without stolen social security numbers, I have been a victim of Fraud stolen identity-personal information myself and it leaves one in a constant state of paranoia, believe me it is and will only get worse as the greedy rich take more( the disappearing middle class) and the poor lose even more of the rights under the laws of the constituion regardless of who may be to blame, are we not all to balme for the issue if all we do is write about it? Action is the only answer to any problem that may well already be far worse than we know. Its super to have an avenue of venting frustration, but today nothing is as it was and nothing is as it seems to be. Greatfully I am still alive to endure the hardships that have left so many in despair that without acttion the problems will multiply daily an it is my belief they are increasing exponetially at the present time and we have waited far too long to stop the snow ball of hell about to smack down the United States and who is it that will care anyway. Every other country, free or not could care less about what is happening in the U.S. Watching the news is so depressing, I can no longer watch as I haven't the power to change anything, yet I am told I am one of the 2% of the richest in the world today. That my friends is ridiculous and untrue as well just because it is in print or told as news, people are believing it. The masses are indeed asses.

Doc,

As always, it was a pleasure chatting with you.

For McCain and his response when dealing with questions regarding age: He missed a golden opportunity to turn this negative issue around. Instead of calling the young person names, he could have said something similar to the following:

"My life experiences have given me the knowledge and wisdom to lead this great country."

Given that his age has been an issue with the media, he (or his campaign manager) should have been prepared for this question.
